Review

It’s my first purchase from Imam Carpets and I’m happy that I found a very reputable and genuine place to shop online without a fear of being cheated in terms of quality.

The Story Behind the Persian Shirazi Overdyed Hand Knotted Rug

Shiraz, in southern Iran, is the market town for the rugs of the Qashqai and other tribes of Fars province, and the name has long been used for the tribal rugs sold there. We gave this one a vintage wash, washing it and shearing the pile low for a faded, distressed look, so its reds softened to rose and its field to worn ivory, as if from years of light. It holds a sofa and two armchairs, or a dining table for six.

Dimensions: 10′ 7″ × 7′ 4″

How it was made

Construction: Hand Knotted
Every knot tied by hand on a loom, then cut to make the pile.
Knot: Senneh knot
The asymmetrical knot, also called the Persian knot. The yarn wraps one warp thread, which allows finer detail.
Density: 101–140 knots per square inch
Knots in every square inch. The higher the count, the finer the detail and the longer the rug takes to knot.
Pile: Zero pile
Material: Wool
