Review

It’s my first purchase from Imam Carpets and I’m happy that I found a very reputable and genuine place to shop online without a fear of being cheated in terms of quality.

The Story Behind the Zielger Afghan Chobi Hand Knotted Rug

Ziegler rugs, first commissioned in Sultanabad, Persia, by the Manchester firm Ziegler & Co. in the late 1800s, drew Persian patterns large enough to read across a European room. Chobi weavers revived them a century later, named from the Dari word for wood. This piece draws its flowers angular and bold, in ivory, rust and sky blue radiating across a navy field inside an ivory border.

How it was made

Construction: Hand Knotted
Every knot tied by hand on a loom, then cut to make the pile.
Knot: Senneh knot
The asymmetrical knot, also called the Persian knot. The yarn wraps one warp thread, which allows finer detail.
Density: 101–140 knots per square inch
Knots in every square inch. The higher the count, the finer the detail and the longer the rug takes to knot.
Pile: Low pile
Material: Wool
